The Daxing Diezhi Zisha Teapot
The Daxing Diezhi Zisha Teapot
This teapot named Daxing Diezhi. It is made of original mine middle groove Qing clay, with a capacity of about 350ml and a 9 hole spout. The classic design of Daxing Diezhi is well-known, and the original work is collected in the Sihai Museum as a town-hall treasure. The teapot's body is nearly one foot long and over six inches high, with a capacity of about 2500cc. The teapot has a simple yet elegant shape, with harmonious proportions of the lid, body, spout, and handle.
There is a unique design feature: a "wrapping-mouth" form is adopted at the spout's bend, making the section of the spout's front edge more rounded. Although there are many small-sized teapots in the store, this one stands out with its imposing presence.
The original mine middle groove Qing clay has unique properties. Compared with the store's other Hudi bottom-groove Qing clay, it requires a longer soaking time for the tea. The color of the clay changes with different firing temperatures, ranging from purple-red to brown-red, astringent color, purple-black, and the gray-green chicken-eye pattern turns into yellow sand grains. The color also varies with different lighting conditions, appearing more purple in dim light or under fluorescent lights, and more red in strong light.
